Be Prepared … Not Paranoid.
These can be troubling times…
But We Were Never Called to Worry.
At least 365 times in the Bible, God tells us “do not fear.” In the face of everything we see in the world around us though, it can be easy to succumb to fear, worry, anxiety and panic. Why do we fall victim to this so easily? We fall victim to this because of the constant bombardment of messaging that is proactively trying to get us to worry, get our eyes off God and make us so nervous that we don’t know what to do — we become paralyzed with fear.
We don’t have to be fearful. We don’t have to be paranoid. But, we can be prepared. When we take the time to ready ourselves, our families and our communities for the unknown and what may or may not be tough times ahead, we make ourselves available to be useful in times of need for others. The purpose of this page is to provide you with a list of partners and suggestions that may give you a greater sense of preparedness and decrease your anxiety of being ready for difficult times. Please check back often as we will update this page from time to time. Remember His word, His promise, “Do Not Fear.”
The basics…
The Simple Steps to be Prepared.
It’s time to take some basic steps to be prepared for a catastrophic event that impacts your city, state or our country. This could include natural disasters or more significant upheavals to technology and the basic ebbs and flows of life as we know it. When we are prepared, we are more equipped to deal with these situations. Below we listed some basic steps to take and we’ve included links to some of our favorite products out there. We’ll add more from time to time so be sure to check back. The first step to being prepared is to have what we call a “Go Bag” ready for each family member. This is a bag that can be used for supplies if local but more importantly, one that can be grabbed should you need to leave your area. Here’s what to include in your Go Bag:
- Prescriptions
- Basic medicine and first aid supplies
- Cash
- Copies of identification
- Non-perishable food items (granola, protein bars, dried fruit, etc.)
- Water filter
- Change of clothes/extra socks
